Release of Commemorative Postage Stamp on 19th November, 2008 for the Silver Jubilee Year of GAIL (India) Ltd.

It was a momentous occasion for GAIL today as a commemorative postage stamp was released by the Hon’ble President of India, Her Excellency Smt. Pratibha Devsingh Patil in the YDR Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan as part of the ongoing celebrations of the Silver Jubilee Year of GAIL (India) Ltd. The function was graced by the presence of Shri Murli Deora, Hon’ble Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shri A. Raja, Hon’ble Union Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Shri Dinsha Patel, Hon’ble Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dr. U.D.Choubey, CMD, Shri R.K. Goel, Director (Finance), Shri Santosh Kumar , Director ( Projects and HR), Shri A.K. Purwaha, Director (BD) former CMDs and Directors of GAIL and other senior officials from the ministry, GAIL and other Oil PSUs

Speaking on the occasion Shri Murli Deora congratulated GAIL emphasizing her role in the process of nationbuilding and as the harbinger of a clean fuel revolution in India. He also mentioned that GAIL has consistently been setting new benchmarks in the industry and the 79% growth in the Net Profit in the quarter2 in comparison to the corresponding quarter in the last year has been unprecedented.

Elaborating on the role of a stamp in the economy of a country Shri A. Raja, Hon’ble Union Ministry of Communication and Information Technology said “Postage Stamp - a humble and tiny piece of paper is also the cultural ambassador of a country. The unique stamp of GAIL which depicts its history and legacy will go a long way in contributing to the socio –economic fabric of the society, he added.

Congratulating GAIL for completing 25 glorious years, Shri Dinsha Patel, dwelt on the milestones achieved by GAIL and offered his warmest wishes for another long innings gaining from strength to strength.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. U.D. Choubey said that this was a historic occasion for GAIL and the GAIL family to have a commemorative postage stamp being released by none other than the highest authority of India Her Excellency Smt. Pratibha Devsingh Pail herself. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Postal Department for awarding GAIL with this recognition. Dr. Choubey reiterated his commitment to take the company forward and make it an entity worth more than Rs. 50000 crore in the next two years.
